Willoq is located about 20 kilometers northeast of Ollantaytambo and at an altitude of approximately 3,680 meters above sea level. This town is famous for its strong cultural identity, its ancestral customs, and its colorful textiles, which are made by the inhabitants themselves using traditional techniques.

Experience the Magic of Cusco: Experiential Tourism in Ollantaytambo – Willoq
ACTIVITY 1 – DEMONSTRATION OF WEAVING: In this activity we will have the opportunity to learn the traditional techniques used in the preparation of their materials, the extraction of wool and the use of natural dyes, this activity is carried out by women.
ACTIVITY 2 -DEMONSTRATION OF AGRICULTURE: In this activity it allows us to see first-hand the ancestral activities and techniques carried out by the inhabitants of Willoq in their farms (farmland), we will also be able to see their tools and even be part of these activities.
ACTIVITY 3- CULTURAL EXCHANGE: Enjoy a day with local families, participating in their daily activities and sharing stories. This is a unique opportunity to learn about their worldview, traditions, and values.
ACTIVITY 4- HIKE THROUGH THE ANDES: Explore the surroundings of Willoq with walks guided by members of the community, who will show you sacred places and breathtaking landscapes, while sharing legends and ancestral knowledge.

Textiles in the Inca period reached a great development, it was expressed in their clothes with exquisite embroidery and ornaments with gold and silver as a symbol of status. The state needed to meet the high demand, therefore, it created the Aclla Wasi and textile centers. A place where women (Mamaconas) were dedicated to making textile garments with alpaca, llama, vicuña wool and with natural dyes. Get to know the Andean tradition and culture.

Itinerary
We will pick up our clients from their hotel at 8:00 am in our private bus and we will go to Ollantaytambo, from there we will take a detour to the community of Willoq, always accompanied by landscapes of spectacular beauty and in about 45 minutes approximately we will be arriving at the town of Willoq.
In the town of Willoq there is an association of weavers from the community, where the work they make is exhibited and sold. Most of their fabrics are llicllas (for women) and ponchos (for men), which are adorned with different figures of plants such as pallays, cornfields and shapes of animals such as people, vicuña, among others. In addition, we will also be able to learn how they dye the alpaca fibers with which they make their garments.
We will be back in the city of Cusco at 4:00 pm.

Recommendations
- Acclimatize in Cusco at least 2 days before the tour.
- Wear warm clothing in layers (raincoat, hat, gloves).
- Wear waterproof trekking shoes.
- Bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat.
- Carry water, energy snacks and coca leaves or candies for altitude sickness.
- Avoid drinking alcohol the night before.
